Wind down your window and throw away your normal city roads and suburban worries. Fraser Island will teach you all about wide open pristine spaces, unspoilt beauty, lush rainforests, stunning freshwater lakes and the exhilaration of driving on sand, not monotonous bitumen.
The world’s largest sand island is a haven for adventure. Explore in your own 4WD or take a tour bus or even a H3 Hummer. Tackle the inland bumps and humps through towering satinay trees, abundant forest and picturesque sand dunes. Enjoy an invigorating swim in the emerald waters of Lake Wabby where Hammerstone Sandblow forms a wall of sand at its base. Lake Mackenzie shines sapphire blue, blessed with shores of snow-white sand.
On the quiet side of the island, blend seamlessly with nature at the award winning eco resort, Kingfisher Bay Resort and village. They offer a range of accommodation, restaurants, tours and activities. On the eastern side of the island, 4WD enthusiasts, fishermen and families enjoy campsites with rolling surf views and endless kilometres of sand highway.
Shipwrecks and sheltered bays flash by your window but be sure to stop and enjoy the view. Climb Indian Head and gaze down upon schools of fish, sharks, dolphins, rays and turtles, enjoying their own sea safari. They are probably having just as much fun as you.

We have always loved Fraser! The island has been a family favourite all along. Jenny and I and four kids would pack up the old Chesney camper and tow it up the beach to around the 'Maheno' wreck and stay for three weeks at time. I feel we 'invented' towing vans up the coast and at times we would have hardly any neighbours. One campfire miles down and one up the beach and paradise around us. NO-ONE wanted to pack up and go home to Rocky! Look after Fraser!

I would love to get to Fraser. Most likely I will need to go with some brothers and nephews to enjoy the camping experience.

Fraser has some of the most pristine beaches I have visited. Lets hope we can all keep it that way, leave nothing but footprints & take nothing but photos plus the odd fish to eat.

By car and then by boat you find your way to paradise, otherwise known as Fraser Island! I am past 'roughing it' as I now have a bad back, so we stayed at the Kingfisher Bay Resort and that was an excellent choice. Great food, and service. Then there were numerous activities to keep the day interesting, active, and all with plenty of 'wow' factors. This is truly an amazing island, and high on the list of MUST DO's in Queensland.

We spent a week on Fraser at Kingfisher Bay a few years ago and had a fantastic holiday. Fraser, without a doubt, is one of the top spots in Qld. I'm looking forward to returning.

When you wake up on a beautiful Queensland morning and the weather is perfect for a trip on the boat, nothing is more glorious than a swim and a picnic off Moon Point. Blue skies, blue seas, white sand, lovely food and good company.

Wow! That is the only way to describe it! Largest sand island in the world, over 100km long, over 40 freshwater lakes (each one unique and different), a beach that doubles as a highway and runway, and the most incredible beach! And that's not even mentioning the fun you can have four wheel driving through the rugged tracks! This should be one of the top ten in the world!

Travelling in a Hummer around Frazer Island would be so cool and safe
