Roll a pumpkin at the Goomeri Pumpkin Festival

Get there by train Get there by road Accommodation

What a hilarious sight to see up to 500 competitor’s line-up in Goomeri to roll a table pumpkin down the street in a competition that now draws people from all sorts of countries, and every walk of life. One would think it would all end up as soup, but the Great Australian Pumpkin Roll now draws a crowd of more than 14,000 for a day of fabulous family fun.

Where else could you find a Giant Pumpkin Pull where teams of two test their strength, speed and strategies as they load and pull a pallet of pumpkins up a ramp? There is a Pumpkin Pageant, Pumpkin Rolls and Pumpkin Bowls. There’s a Giant Pumpkin competition and a Decorated Pumpkin competition. Best of all there’s categories for both adults and children, so the whole family can get involved.

So come along and enjoy the friendly country hospitality, music, bands, markets, whip cracking, horsemanship, working dogs, and street parade, amid the pumpkins.

I went to this festival in 2008 and me and the kids had a great time, I think they were more keen on cheering when a pumpkin broke, it was so funny to watch. I'll be going back this year not just as a visitor but as a stall holder as well. Well done to goomeri and all those workers who make it happen, keep up the good work, we all need some laughter and fun in our lives and this is it.

Visited this festival 4 years ago and we are still talking about it. Pumpkins, pumpkins everywhere, and such a lot of fun. Great place to take the kids.

We have attended the Goomeri Pumpkin Festival six times since 2003 and have enjoyed every moment, from the dinner dance the night before to the pumpkin roll towards the end of the festival. We've tasted and bought pumpkin liqueur, scones, pies and cakes, rolled pumpkins, talked with interesting people, watched the parades and spent lots of money on wonderful wares available from the multitude of stalls. Great fun!
