Ride a CityCat

Get there by train Get there by road Accommodation

Forget sitting on a bus and seeing Brisbane from the roadside, jump on one of the sleek twin-hulled CityCats gliding up and down the river. Coloured blue, white and yellow symbolising the Sunshine State’s surf, sand and sun, you will immediately feel relaxed and in holiday mode with the wind in your hair and sun shimmering on the water.

A sightseeing journey from Bretts Wharf, Hamilton, to the University of Queensland, St Lucia, will take a little over an hour one way, and glides along 19kms of river with 14 terminals in-between. This opens up a plethora of opportunities to watch the suburban architecture slip by on the shoreline or step off and sample your new surroundings.

Buy a daily ticket for unlimited travel and simply choose the streamlined fleet of catamarans as your preferred stress-free mode of transport to move around the city.

Getting there:

The Brisbane CityCat ferry network runs from Bretts Wharf, Hamilton to the University of Queensland, St Lucia.

I have lived in Brisbane for 3 years now and I always catch the city cat when I need to go places along the Brisbane river, it's fast and has great views of the city.

Whenever we have out-of-town visitors we catch a CityCat along the river from New Farm to Southbank. It's a great trip with amazing views of the city and the Story Bridge underbelly!

Brisbane offers so much, But nothing beats the rush, Like cruising on the river, Our City Cats certainly do deliver. Past the Uni's buildings of sandstone, Checking out the beautiful riverfront homes, Ah there's the Regatta in her glory, Bet that building could tell some stories. Check out the activity on Park Road, Looks like the eateries haven't slowed, Wave to the kayaker's on the river passing by, At least some of them are still dry! Smile as I see families enjoying South Bank, From galleries, museums and the parklands, Don't forget to check out the sparkling city, With cosmopolitan buildings nestled with old ones - it's sure pretty. Those tall buildings peek through the mangroves, The people are coming out in droves, The Botanic Gardens are a sight, Especially all lit up at night. The Story Bridge stands in its prime, I wonder what it's like to do the Bridge Climb, See the people walking on the floating walkway, In Brisbane it's another glorious day. The City Cat shows our city off with such grace, I relfect on this amazing place, The sights, the sounds, the experience - this is my Brisbane.

This is a must do for all!!! You can see Brisbane's past and present at no cost by using your train ticket! I take my class into the city and each year and we have a short trip from Riverside to Southbank. We learn as we rest our tired feet!

Comfortable way for older people to view the sights of Brisbane. Great water adventure for the youngsters. Remember to let (responsible) kids loose with a camera and see the breathtaking photos they can capture of Brisbane!
