What a spectacular vantage point, integrated with the landscape and wildlife, a must do experience.

You are standing 37metres above the ground surrounded by one of the largest webs of tangled rainforest on the planet. Close your eyes and breathe deeply. Smell the smells. Use your ears, just stop and listen. You can all but feel nature touch you on the nose and say “this one’s for you”.
The Mamu Canopy Walkway near Innisfail gives you that opportunity to feel at one with nature, the rainforest, and its creatures. Located on the escarpment of the mighty North Johnstone River gorge, feel the exhilaration of being perched high amongst the rainforest canopy and looking down to the rushing river bend below.
These rainforest clad mountains have cultural significance to the Ma:Mu Aboriginal people and informative signs will help you understand the rich cultural history of the area.
Getting there:
Wooroonooran National Park, Palmerston Highway, Innisfail. The walkway is on the Palmerston Highway, 30km northwest of Innisfail. Innisfail is 80km south of Cairns and easily accessed by road and rail.
By train:
Catch The Sunlander or Tilt Train to Cairns. Mamu Canopy Walkway is located 90 minutes drive from Cairns. Take your car on holiday with you when travelling onboard The Sunlander using Mototrail. To book your rail adventure call Traveltrain Holidays on 1800 627 655.
Further information:
The walkway is open from 9.30am-5.30pm daily.

I have been to the Mamu Canopy Walkway and enjoyed the experience. It is worth going and seeing what the forest looks like...made so easy for us with all the pathways and elevated walkways. Great.

I have done the tree top canopy walk at O'Reilly's in the Gold Coast hinterland and that was a great way of getting a look at the upper canopy of our forests, but Mamu sounds fantastic,so added to the list of things to do.

Breathtaking - not what I expected!

We really enjoyed this experience. The kids read the info panels along the way and sought out the things to find. The rainforest is quite amazing and the views fantastic. Amongst our favourite surprises was the refrigerated drinking fountain at the end!

A great achievement. Probably the only positive thing Cyclone Larry helped achieve.
