Lamington National Park

Get there by train Get there by road Accommodation

Behind the Gold Coast’s golden beaches lies Lamington National Park, a dramatic landscape of radiating ridges and cliff-lined valleys where mist covered mountains will be sure to stimulate your senses and replenish your soul.

Take in the sights and scents of the forest on over 160km of walking trails along the McPherson Range, divided into two main sections, Binna Burra and Green Mountains. Swing high above the forest on a treetop walk and enjoy pretty creeks, powerful waterfalls and dramatic lookouts.

Enjoy spotting a variety of wildlife within the park including possums, bandicoots, bats and frogs. A variety of colourful birdlife can also be handfed from your accommodation.

In the 1900s, two guesthouses were established in this lush rainforest park, O’Reilly’s Rainforest Guesthouse and Binna Burra Mountain Lodge, which still operate today and offer many tours and sightseeing options to take you back to nature.

Getting there:

Lamington National Park is 110km south of Brisbane (40km from Nerang on the Gold Coast). Access is by road. Many day tours leave from the Gold Coast.

Growing up on the Goldie was great but having the magnificent Lamington NP as the Coast's backdrop was truely sensational

Plenty of excellent bush walks - a picturesque place to get out and burn some calories.

Want to lose yourself in the mountain mists then this is the place to do it - fantastic. The air is crisp and clean, no city or traffic noise, just you and the trees, birds and frogs - wonderful.

A cool place to escape the coast's humidity and bustle - take a hike and enjoy the scenery and mountain streams and don't forget to stay over at Binna Burra or O'reilly's or wherever. Great place!

There are so many beautiful natural areas of Queensland, why would you ever go anywhere else? The variety of bushwalks and visitor venues make this a great place to visit and stay.

Going the back way to O'Reillys through Beaudesert and Kerry is a great day trip and the changing landscape as you travel though farm land and then up into the rainforest is a great experience just a short hop from Brisbane.
