The Kuku Yalanji are the indigenous inhabitants of the land, which stretches from around Cooktown in the north to Port Douglas in the south. From the Kuku Yalanji Dreamtime centre in Mossman Gorge, take a one and a half hour guided bush walk through pristine rainforest, past traditional bark shelters, cool streams and culturally significant sites.

Stop beside a tranquil creek for a demonstration in the art of making paint, the traditional use of plants and learn about how identify, collect and prepare bush tucker. Listen as the guides share their dreamtime legends and many other aboriginal ways of life.

Enjoy didgeridoo playing and billy tea and damper then browse through the gift shop and art gallery featuring genuine Kuku Yalanji art and artefacts. You may choose to take home a special painting, spear, dilly balimited prints, hand painted jewellery, or boomerang, among many other lovely arts and craft on display.

Getting there:

Kuku Yalanji Dreamtime, Mossman Gorge Road, Mossman. Mossman is 1775km north of Brisbane, 60km north of Cairns.

By train:

Catch The Sunlander or Tilt Train to Cairns. Mossman is approximately 60 km north of Cairns. Hire a 4WD or take your own on holiday with you when travelling from Brisbane to Cairns onboard The Sunlander.
