Hot Air Balloon

Get there by train Get there by road Accommodation

You are floating through the fluffy clouds and all around the sky is flushed with predawn shades of crimson cherries. Below you the land lays still and sleeping.

From the basket of your hot air balloon you have an open-air view of the world below. In the cities, as dawn breaks, the sun reflects from office windows and you spot special landmarks from an entirely different angle. In the country, drift over forest covered mountains, rolling hills and meandering waterways. From above, the farmland paddocks seem to stitch together like patchwork carpets.

Hot air ballooning is the world’s oldest and most romantic form of flight, so help inflate your majestic, gentle giant and take to the skies for a tranquil drift above reality. Balloon flights are usually an hour in duration and are available from many Queensland townships. Some flights restrict the age of children to eight years and over.

I flown hot air balloons on three continents, for fun & commercial work. The first time I flew over Ipswich & the Scenic Rim in my balloon, I knew that this was a special place in Qld as it is the only place in Qld to be able to combine both city & country in one flight. The views from the balloon include; the heritage city of Ipswich - it’s beautiful old heritage buildings, churches and homes, the classic Queenslanders architecture, the parks & gardens & the meandering Bremer River & Brisbane River. The Scenic Rim region offers the stunning backdrop of the Great Dividing, McPherson and D'Aguilar ranges, Flinders Peak, Mount Walker, Mount Coot-tha, Mount Tamborine, the quaint country towns & properties, Moreton Bay, the skyline of Brisbane Central Business District, Wivenhoe Dam, the Brisbane, Fassifern and Lockyer valleys. All this while silenting floating over head.
