A brilliant experience that is great for all the family

Spear-like stalactites drape from the ceiling and ancient flowstones form the vision of frozen waterfalls within the unique system of above-ground caves at Capricorn Caves, 23km north of Rockhampton, Central Queensland.
The entire family will enjoy wandering through the amazing passageways of ten cave chambers on a one-hour Cathedral Tour, leaving each day on the hour from 9am-4pm. Throughout the month of December and early January you will experience an additional phenomenon - the summer solstice light spectacle.
If you are over 16 and seek a more adventurous option, choose “Wild Caving” where you will be put to test on discoveries such as The Guillotine, a self-explore passageway complete with dead ends to confuse and frighten you. To get through Fat Man’s Misery get down on your belly and army-crawl through a 10m long black tunnel with very little head space.
Well, only if you’re brave enough...of course you might cave in on the challenge.

This is an amazing experience and actually quite unique. Make sure you go in summer as the sun provides a unique spectacle. I'll leave it at that.

Great place to visit and wander through, even better when attending a friends wedding in the cool acoustic chambers.

We were fortunate to be in the caves during the summer solstice. Even though it was a bleak day we were so lucky when the sun came through enabling us to make a wish in the shaft of light from the ceiling.

I found the caves quite unique and enthralling. I also was attracted to the complete complex with the overnight huts and the walking trails.
