Experience the thrill of Mig Jetting

Get there by train Get there by road Accommodation

So you think you’re a thrill seeker and adrenalin junkie? Well, there’s a sleek looking MiG Jet parked in Rockhampton, screaming out, with one spare seat especially for you.

Richard McDonald, a former crop-dusting pilot with 20 years experience on passenger airlines and in private planes, re-mortgaged his house to become proud owner of a MiG 15 jet. He now runs MiG Jet Adventures, offering the public the rare experience of riding in a fighter jet, pulling up to 6 Gs in some manoeuvres. Think again if you thought 1 ½ Gs on a rollercoaster ride was edgy.

So are you ready to go inverted at 1100km/hour?

First you will need to prepare. Run through a briefing and familiarisation session before getting suited up to look the part, then it’s time to do the Top Gun strut across the tarmac to start your engine. Of course this is not just any engine; this is four tonnes of turbine engine, potentially 6,000 pounds of thrust.

You better hold on. This is no ordinary ride.

Getting there:

Rockhampton is situated 630km north of Brisbane and easily accessed by train, bus and air.

By train:

Catch The Sunlander, Tilt Train or Spirit of the Outback to Rockhampton. To book your rail adventure call Traveltrain Holidays on 1800 627 655.

Further information:

MiG Jet Adventures offer two packages, the Full Monty and the Cruiser.  The Full Monty gives you high speeds and high Gs during a 25minute flight. The Cruiser offers gentler thrills and lasts 10minutes.
