Surf Life Saving in Queensland began on Coolangatta Beach on 21st February 1909 and from very small and humble beginnings Surf Clubs up and down the coast have been the breeding grounds for world champions and places of outstanding courage and service.
They have also become the social hub of our iconic beach life, providing relaxed and friendly hospitality, usually sporting the areas most stunning restaurant views. It is not uncommon for Surf Clubs to incorporate surf bars, gaming lounges, function rooms and restaurants. In fact, many are renowned for their hearty breakfasts, lunch and dinners overlooking the sea.
With 59 Surf Clubs along our Queensland coastline there are endless spots to ponder our wide blue yonder, so don’t leave the surf without pulling up a table by the sea and enjoying the casual hospitality of our clubs – it’s an Aussie way of life!
Get there by train:
You can catch The Sunlander, Tilt Train or Spirit of the Outback to Nambour Station and catch a connecting coach. To book your rail adventure call Traveltrain Holidays on 1800 627 655.

We recently moved to Western Queensland with work, having lived all our life on the Gold Coast. Every opportunity we get for a break, we always head straight for the coast and have a meal at one of the surf clubs., to get our "salt water fix" !!

Whenever we visit the Coast, either the Gold or Sunshine, we always have a meal at one of the many Surf Clubs. The food is always lovely and fresh and great value for money and the views are to die for.

There is nothing like it - day or night. A cold drink, a sea breeze, great food and a truly relaxed atmosphere that can only be a Queensland Surf Club.

Its typical for the laid-back Queensland way of life. Always a great way to spend some relaxing time.
