Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary

Get there by train Get there by road Accommodation

There is a certain thrill for children to be up way past their bedtime and let’s face it, if you’re a native animal, night time is action time.

For this reason Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary re-opens their doors at 7pm each evening for a Wildnight Adventure, two and a half hours of night time exploration, mixing with many of the nocturnal animals that are not seen during the day.

With hundreds of animals and birds, this Sanctuary is home to one of the largest collections of Australian native wildlife in the world. During the day the wild rainbow lorikeets that made Currumbin famous still fly in to feed, perching on the arms and heads of visitors. There are crocodile wetlands, large open areas of free-ranging animals, a walk-through rainforest aviary (largest in the Southern Hemisphere), koalas to cuddle and kangaroos to feed.

Animal shows run right throughout the day and an Aboriginal dance troupe also delight the crowds with stories from one of the world’s longest surviving cultures.

Getting there:

Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary is located on 28 Tomewin St, Currumbin. 10minutes north of the Gold Coast Airport, 20minutes south of Surfers Paradise.

A great place to take the family and really get up close to the animals. We loved the bird feeding, patting the kangaroos, and the train ride at the end of the day when our legs could carry us no longer!

Apart from the Sanctuary's truthful 'Get Closer' experience to native wildlife, its latest treetop rope course attraction - Extreme Green Challenge adds on another eco-friendly exciting feature to Currumbin! Love it!
