Cuddle a koala at Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary

Get there by train Get there by road Accommodation

Everyone loves the cuteness of a koala and at Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary, 25 minutes from Brisbane city centre, there are more than 130 living here, so you can be guaranteed you are going to catch some of them awake!

Set on 20 hectares of undulating land along the Brisbane River, you won’t find a more relaxing way to cuddle a koala, or hand feed the kangaroos and lorikeets, away from the fast pace of other zoos.

There are lots of different shows to keep you busy throughout the day such as seeing a Tassie devil demolish a mouse in three seconds flat (bones and all) or admiring the amazing skills of Aussie sheep dogs as they respond to whistles, calls and hand signals from their masters. Hold a snake, have your picture taken with a koala, or just relax under a shady tree and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.

Getting there:

Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary is on Jesmond Rd, Fig Tree Pocket.

Fabulous place, Ive been twice now when Ive come to Oz on holiday and both times its the first place I wanted to go to as I love it so much!! Done the koala hug both times, they are just so gorgeous. I love the fact you can intereact with them and all the other animals, and the talks are good and informative. The kangeroos are great and you can feed them and they have lots of land to jump about on. Brilliant, and loved spending my money in the gift shop knowing it will go towards the sanctuary. Brilliant place!!!

We went here for my boy's first birthday and cried when it was time to put him in back in the car. He seemed to like the crocodiles for some reason. Well worth it.

Cuddling a koala was one of my fondest childhood memories.

It's a great day out with the kids - lots of animals, and beautiful place for a picnic.

Excellent Aussie experience, and right here in Brisbane. Our overseas family loved it too

Koalas are so cute! A great place to take family and friends especially from abroad to see them up close, something that is often difficult in the wild.

As a family who entertains/hosts a lot of Japanese students, this is our favourite Australian destination to take them to for the day...

Me and my husband visited the sanctury during our holiday this year and it was fantastic. A big tick in my box to get up close to the amazing Australian wildlife. I volunteer at my local wildlife aid in the UK and I have to say the volunteers and Lone Pine really do a wonderful job and you can see they are very passionate about caring for the animals. Brilliant day out and woudl definately go again next time I visit.

Awesome setting, fantastic staff, unbelievable free flight show and by far the best dingoes and wombats going round!

Cuddly, sleepy bears. Doped up to the eyeballs with gum leaves!
