Cruise the Great Barrier Reef

Get there by train Get there by road Accommodation

The Great Barrier Reef is the world's largest World Heritage Area extending over 2,000 kilometres and covering an area of over 350,000 sq km. With more than 2,900 reefs and more than 1,000 islands there are endless possibilities to discover the world’s largest coral reef system.

Cruise to coral cays, tropical islands and pontoons moored at attractive off-shore reef sites, to explore with marine biologists or on your own. The hub of Great Barrier Reef day cruises leave every day from Cairns and Port Douglas, fast catamarans that will whisk you to the inner and outer reefs to experience one of the seven natural wonders of the world.

The reefs support such a huge diversity of life, you will revel in diving and snorkelling experiences to view sprawling coral gardens and thousands of species of marine animals. There are also plenty of activities for the non-swimmers including underwater observatories, semi-submersibles and scenic helicopter tours.

Getting there:

Cruises on the Great Barrier Reef leave from many ports along the Queensland coast with the busiest hub being Cairns and Port Douglas.

Can't wait to go back and experience this again. The colour of the water is mesmerising and you will never get seafood that tastes so clean and fresh as what you get from North Queensland.

had a great Roylen cruise on the Great Barrier Reef, cruising past/ or visiting Lindeman Is, Long Is, Carlisle Is, Bramton Is, and others. After cruise, stayed on Brampton Island, a fabulous place and has nice scenic walks too and great views across to Carlisle Island.
