Climb Mt Tamborine

Get there by train Get there by road Accommodation

The green oasis of Tamborine is shaped by three heritage communities: Mount Tamborine, North Tamborine and Eagle Heights. Huddled together in the Gold Coast hinterland these villages provide a charming hilltop base to discover nearby Tamborine Mountain National Park, which covers the majority of the mountain - the Witches Falls section being Queensland’s first national park.

There are 22km of walks on offer, many suitable for the whole family to enjoy, winding through lush rainforest and pretty waterfalls.

Whilst the National Park provides tranquillity and the chance to reconnect with nature, there are many other things on the mountain to keep you busy. Galleries, arts and crafts shops, photography workshops and boutique wineries all await discovery.

For the adventurous, why not add some excitement to the stunning views over the escarpment and just jump off. Hang gliding is a popular pastime here, as is rock climbing and abseiling, at any time of the year.

Tamborine Mountain is a beautiful place to visit at any time of the year.

Getting there:

80km south of Brisbane and 28km from Nerang in the Gold Coast Hinterland.

By train:

Catch The Sunlander, Tilt Train, Spirit of the Outback, or The Westlander to Brisbane. Catch a connecting Citytrain to Robina. Mount Tambourine is located 50 minutes drive from the Gold Coast. To book your rail adventure call Traveltrain Holidays on 1800 627 655.

Mount Tamborine is a great destination for the whole family. There isn't another place this close to the CBD where you can enjoy ancient rainforests, waterfalls, watch abundant wildlife and enjoy a leisurely walk. Or enjoy an outdoor meal/BBQ or devonshire tea in the cool mountain air. Also visit the Gallery Walk with its quaint shops. It is one of our all time favourites. A must do for tourists and locals alike. You won't be disappointed, try it!

Growing up in Brisbane we visited Mt Tamborine quite often. I never tire of visiting and my dream is to retire to the Mountain to live. It is a beautiful place and may it ever remain so.
