Cheer for Queensland in the State of Origin

Get there by train Get there by road Accommodation

Cheer for our mighty Queensland Maroons as they take on the Blues in one of Australia’s premier sporting events when Queensland and New South Wales go head to head in the State of Origin.

Sell out stadiums and huge television audiences are attracted to this series reputed to be the toughest and hardest-fought rugby league series in the world, where players are selected to play for the state in which they played their first senior football, hence the name 'state of origin'.

Join with Queenslander’s decked out in colours as local pubs swell to capacity and overflow with state pride. Get together with friends for a backyard barbeque to watch the match and cheer on the sporting pilgrimage of battle between the cane toads and the cockroaches. There are three matches to follow, held annually from May to June.

Get there by train:

Catch the Tilt Train, The Sunlander, Westlander or Spirit of the Outback to Brisbane. Catch a connecting City Train service to Milton Station, located a short stroll from Suncorp Stadium. To book your rail adventure call Traveltrain Holidays on 1800 627 655.

State of Origin stadium tickets can be purchased through Ticketek on 132 849.

Nothing beats the spine-tingling atmosphere and excitement of an Origin game at Lang Park, especially when we give the Blues a hiding.

I have never been to a state of origin and when they are on I have other (Yes, even more important) business to tend to, but I would love to witness Origin live. I can just imagine the amazingly electric atmosphere and the camaraderie of the two sides would be fantastic to be involved with too.

Have been to several State of Origin games at both the old and new stadiums. What an experience. Just love seeing Queensland give it to the Blues. Even if you're not a footy fan the atmosphere is worth the price of admission.

For 4 years I'd gone with friends. So last year I took mum,dad and my daughter to see it.Well now the whole family are hooked. It's not just about the game though, the atmosphere of a crowd supporting their team with banners, dyed hair, jerseys flags and chants just add up to a great night out.And even better that we won!Good on yah Queensland.

This is a definite must for all Queenslanders!!It is great to watch at home but nothing beats being at the stadium itself...the atmosphere is amazing!! Whether you love footy or not you can still enjoy Origin.
