It is late afternoon and kangaroo silhouettes stand out boldly against the shimmering shoreline of Cape Hillsborough National Park. It is a common sight here for the kangaroos to be hopping down the beach and inviting themselves to picnic along the pretty foreshore overlooking the sea.

This small, rugged, coastal national park has a dramatic coastline and abundant wildlife that can be enjoyed by the whole family on several picturesque walking trails. Open forested hillsides tumble towards the sea while sheltered valleys and creeks support lush rainforest.

Cape Hillsborough Resort provides the perfect haven for nature lovers to linger, walk by the light of the moon, fish, birdwatch and beachcomb. There are two seasons here, the temperate dry season (April to December) and the tropical summer (January to March) making Cape Hillsborough a beautiful place to visit at any time of the year.

Getting there:

Cape Hillsborough is 50km north of Mackay accessed by road.

A quiet corner of Mackay - unspoilt, unhurried, undiscovered by many. This is what makes its special. A great spot to stay a while and relax. Certainly a must vitit destination for locals and visitors. Everyone is captivated by the place

Our family has a holiday house near-by and we have often gone up to the Cape for a picnic amongst the native flora and fauna. Nice spot.
