Brisbane River Adventures

Get there by train Get there by road Accommodation

If you think Brisbane is just another city overflowing with excellent shopping, superb restaurants and fabulous cultural experiences, think again - get down to the river and experience Brisbane from a different angle. At Riverlife Adventure Centre you can see the city from the rocks, from the water, or on wheels.

Face your fears abseiling down Kangaroo Point’s weathered walls or crawling up them, rock by rock. From a dangling position you will see the city from a new perspective.

Imagine cutting through the darkness on your kayak and gliding silently under the Story Bridge. Whether you are an experienced paddler or it’s your first time on the water, you will be captivated by the city’s charm as the high rise reflections dance playfully in your wake.

So you’re not a cliff-hanger and would prefer to keep your feet firmly on the shore? Start at the beautiful City Botanic Gardens and follow the river north to connect to the floating RiverWalk, over 20km of walking paths along the beautiful Brisbane River. To increase the pace, break out your wheels or hire them (bicycles, rollerblades and kick bikes) from Riverlife Adventure Centre.

Wining and dining on the water is also popular with cruises such as the Kookaburra River Queen offering buffet lunch and dinner cruises, live entertainment, and everchanging views.

Riverlife Adventure Centre: access via the Kangaroo Point steps (off River Terrace) or catch CityCat to the Thornton St Ferry Terminal then follow the signs.

Riverlife is awesome! My partner and I went kayaking down the brisbane river as a present from my parents for christmas and we had the best time. Apart from me falling in! Would recommend that everyone attempt at least one of the activities that Riverlife have available.

To experience several outings along the Brisbane River is to be savoured throughout the year, either by foot or cycling the boardwalks, river cat or just taking in the ambience of cosmopolitan South Bank.

Kayaking on the Brisbane River was a fabulous experience for our family. It's great to do something the kids enjoy as much as Mum and Dad. The staff are informative and genuinely friendly. They are professionals and you always feel safe with them and welcome.
