Bramston Beach

Get there by train Get there by road Accommodation

Wind through fields of swaying sugarcane to a quiet peaceful village 80km south of Cairns and just 17km off the Bruce Highway. Surrounded by frangipani, tropical orchids and a wide variety of colourful plants, Bramston’s unspoiled beaches and lush surroundings make a peaceful base to further explore the areas beauty.

For the experienced, fit, and well prepared bushwalker, Queensland’s highest mountain, Mt Bartle Frere, is nearby and a climb to the summit is quite an adventure, best tackled over two days. Be prepared for some very steep terrain and rock scrambling in places to reap the rewards of your climb.

For those who seek a more soft adventure, plunge into the icy waters of Josephine Falls, dangle your feet in the cascades around the smoothed Babinda Boulders or take a gentle 1.5km return walk at nearby Eubenangee Swamp National Park to birdwatch. Spot jabiru, spoonbills, egrets, flocks of finches and many rainforest birds, flitting in amongst the melaleucas.

Getting there:

Bramston Beach is 80km south of Cairns and easily accessed by road.

By train:

Catch The Sunlander or Tilt Train to Innisfail. Bramston Beach is located 36 mins drive from Innisfail. Or catch The Sunlander to Cairns and take your car with you using Motorail. Bramston Beach is located a 1 hour and 20 minute drive from Cairns. To book your rail adventure call Traveltrain Holidays on 1800 627 655.

Great beaches for fishing and collecting pippies. Peaceful, clean and friendly. Stay at Motel or Camping Grounds. Lots of local attractions to keep you busy or relax in quiet surroundings and listen to the birds.

Climbing the highest mountain in Queensland is a must do, and what better way to relax afterwards than on Bramston Beach.

Bramston Beach has to be one of the best places around the tropics. It is so peaceful & not spoilt like the bigger places. The gentle sea breezes swaying the palm trees. What more could anyone want.
