So impressed with Bowens way of depicting their history and immortalising it for all time. Like an on show time capsule.

The town of Bowen, in the northern region of the Whitsundays, 40 minute's drive from Airlie Beach, has become known and loved for many things – award-winning palm-fringed beaches, nearby colourful reef and great estuary fishing. But it’s Bowen’s history that has a lot of people talking.
Proudly displayed throughout Bowen’s streets, 24 bright and colourful murals depict the rich and historical past of the town’s early settlement history, through to present day. Illustrating the history of The Newspaper, Pioneer Women, Early Farming Days, the Federation of Port and much more, the murals have been painted by well known Queensland artists, one by the art students of Bowen High School and one also by famed artist Ken Done.
For a guided walking tour of the murals, join a one-and-a-half hour tour that leaves every Wednesday morning from the Municipal Library, location of the first mural. Tours run from April to December.
Getting there:
Starting point for the mural tours is the Municipal Library, Cnr Herbert and Powell Streets. Bowen is located 1157km north of Brisbane and easily accessed by road and rail.

I did the trip from Brisbane to the Cape a few years ago and the Murals have always remained with me. Bowen is a very interesting town - I can definitely understand why Baz used it as he did.
