A day out at Australia Zoo promises to be a day of wildlife action and adventure. Watch from the Crocoseum as huge saltwater crocs launch a strike on their prey and do deathrolls under the water. Giant wingspans of birds of prey swoop above while in the water below a four metre reticulated python swims freely for everyone to ogle.

If you've ever wanted to cuddle a koala, hand-feed an Asian Elephant, walk alongside a Bengal Tiger, take a Tasmanian devil for a stroll, or wrap a snake around your shoulders, then Australia Zoo is your ultimate destination.

First opened by Bob and Lyn Irwin in 1970 and under the management of the late Steve Irwin and his wife Terri, Australia Zoo has grown into one of the world’s leading zoological destinations and should certainly be on your list of must-do’s.

We're Melbournites but have holidayed in Queensland each winter for the past 13 years. Our day, from opening to closing, at Australia Zoo is much anticipated each year and NEVER disappoints. The growth of the zoo over that time is mind-blowing but it still manages to retain the personal touch. It's a not-so-little bewdy!!!

My son and I visited in Dec. of 2004, we actually got to see Steve which was amazing to myself but especially to my 3 year old son whom adored Steve! We traveled from Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA. We loved the zoo and it was the most amazing zoo I have ever seen! They were all great there! Can't wait to go back some day! Hoping my dream will come true again. God bless! Steve lives on!

We moved to Perth, WA from Scotland 16 months ago and we had promised the kids we would take them to Australia Zoo (not realising how far it was from WA!) so our whole summer holiday was planned round the zoo day trip. We weren't disappointed. Having been big Stevie & Terri fans for a long time, we saw Terri & Wes in the crocoseum with Bindi and Robert too - which made our whole holiday! We took the personalised tour in the afternoon for $15 each (all proceeds straight to the animals) and our guide was able to answer all our questions and obviously loved his job. We saw the whole zoo and it is amazing and if we hadn't been staying on the Gold COast, we would have gone back for a second day. Keep up the great work Irwin family!

Way to go Steve and Terri. Your voting is huge. What a wonderful tribute to your work if you were to come out number one.
