Breathe in the beauty of our majestic waterfalls

Get there by train Get there by road Accommodation

The sound of tumbling chilly fresh water will draw you to the fertile Atherton Tableland, an elevated cool plateau behind Cairns. Millaa Millaa Falls is one of the most photographed falls in the Wet Tropics and when you stand before its perfectly composed drop, spray misting over the flawless surrounding scene, you’ll know exactly why.

From Millaa Millaa take the famous 15km Waterfall Circuit that includes Millaa Millaa Falls, Zillie and Elinjaa, plunging over lava walls and splashing into refreshing pools. Further on the way to Ravenshoe visit Souita and Pepina Falls, and 5km outside of Ravenshoe, Australia’s widest waterfall, Millstream Falls, spills over an old basalt lava flow.

Take the short walk through to the pretty Little Millstream Falls early morning or late afternoon and look for shy platypus feeding in the shallows. Many of the pools at the base of waterfalls are home to fish, turtles, platypus and other freshwater creatures.

If you can’t get enough of these majestic waterfalls you will realise there are many more falls of water to seek out and explore.

Getting there:

The Millaa Millaa Waterfall Circuit begins on the outskirts of Millaa Millaa township and finishes 2km away. Millaa Millaa is 96km south of Cairns.

By train:

Catch the Tilt Train or The Sunlander to Cairns. Take your car on holiday with you when travelling onboard The Sunlander using Mototrail. To book your rail adventure call Traveltrain Holidays on 1800 627 655.

This is a MUST SEE. It is amazing to witness the power and beauty of nature happening simultaneously. It can be the hottest North Qld day but the area around these waterfalls is always so cool and lush and totally relaxing. Don't miss it.
